Introduction to Handgun Class – September 16 – Photos of the Day

The free Introduction to Handgun Class presented by the Fitchville Conservation League is funded in part by a grant of the Ohio Department of Natural Resources and the Sport Fish & Wildlife Restoration Foundation.

The Lead Instructor Wayne Kiser opened the class with a welcome to the 19 persons in the class, and the volunteer FCL instructors.  He introduced Huron County Wildlife Officer, Nathan Kaufman.   The four safety rules for handling Firearms were presented.  A brief description of the various types of handguns were presented, demonstrated and discussed .  The concept of the MASTER EYE was presented and each person was shown how to determine it.  The reasons for Ear and eye protection were explained.  The legal responsibility of owning and firing a firearm was discussed at length.  The class went to the pistol range and learned to load and fire a handgun.

Youth  Day at the Range on Saturday, September 9, 2017 started with a safety session.  Gary Bradt explained the four safety rules of firearms and archery.   After the safety session the participants divided into three groups:  Rifles on the Pistol Range, Shotguns in the Trap Area, and Archery at the Archery Area.  The FCL volunteer instructors manned the three sites. All the participants had an opportunity to practice their skills with an volunteer instructor at each of the area stations.. A total of 54 took advantage of the day; 28 were youth under the age of 18.  Below are photos taken by  Huron County Wildlife Officer Nathan Kaufman to record the class session.

FCL July Introduction to Archery Class

Introduction to Archery

On Saturday, July 15, 2017 the Fitchville Conservation League and its volunteer instructors offered an Introduction to Archery Class for the area communities. Over 35 students participated in the safety class and the live archery session. FCL Vice President Gary Bradt, the lead instructor for the event started with a short demonstration of proper archery form. The students were then divided into 5 groups and five stations were established each with its own instructor and the fun was on. This free class was funded by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources and the Fitchville Conservation League.
