Ohio’s New Constitutional Concealed Carry Handgun Class (CHL)
This class is ideal for those looking to travel to other states that require a Concealed Handgun License (CHL) or for individuals who want to learn about Ohio’s new constitutional carry laws. It includes comprehensive firearm knowledge instruction, range time, and a test to qualify you to apply for your Ohio Concealed Handgun License.
The CHL class will run until 4:00 PM, as mandated by Ohio law, and includes lunch.

GENERAL INFORMATION:
Full CHL Class
(Firearms and ammunition are required for the full CHL class)
Prerequisites:
All attendees should have prior experience with loading and firing a handgun safely. If you’re new to handguns, we recommend taking our Introduction to Handguns class first.
Required Gear:
- Eye and ear protection: Please bring your own. If needed, Fitchville Conservation League will provide it.
- Ammunition:
- 100 rounds of practice ammunition (mandatory)
- 10 rounds of carry ammunition (optional)
- We encourage you to train with the firearm and holster you plan to carry.
Class Capacity:
The class roster is filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Online registration is highly encouraged to help us plan adequately for staff, coaching, and meal preparation.
Registration Details:
The $75 fee will be collected at the start of the class. Cash or Check is accepted.

Ohio Law Requirements for the CHL Class:
The class meets Ohio’s legal requirements of at least 8 hours of certified training, which includes:
- Safe Handgun Handling & Storage: Learn the rules for safely handling handguns and storing both firearms and ammunition.
- Ammunition Safety: Understand how to handle ammunition safely.
- Shooting Competency: Develop the skills and knowledge to shoot a handgun safely.
- Gun Handling Training: In-depth training on how to handle firearms responsibly.
Practical and Exam Requirements:
- Practical Training: You must complete 2 hours of practical training, which includes live-fire range time.
- Examination: You will take a written test covering the rules for safe handgun handling, storage, and ammunition. Additionally, there will be a physical demonstration of competency, assessing your ability to handle a handgun safely and shoot with the correct attitude and technique.
